Building a bridge that connects the community and strengthens the family

The community’s need for Houston Youth Ranch programs is the driving factor for organizational goals. In order for the organization to grow, its infrastructure and the Board of Directors must be further developed. The Board of Directors will serve three-year terms.
  • Establishment of Committees for organizational volunteers which include:
  • Construction - Focusing on facility construction and design requirements
  • Educational events and programs - Focusing on recreation and leadership
  • Grant applications
  • Finance
  • Membership
  • Organization development/infrastructure
  • Scholarship Program
  • Volunteer coordination
Updating the five-year performance and service goals for the organization. These goals are the specific planned services to be provided to youth and actions the organization must take in order to meet these goals. Schedules for completion of goals are contained herein. Activities include:

Program construction Over the past years, the HYR has been undergoing a major renovation project wherein it is being transformed into a regional County park with state of the art amenities.

Program development including family strengthening, sustained mentor relationships with law enforcement modeled after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) G.R.E.A.T. program.

Recreational therapy “ropes course” or “confidence building course” using the U.S. Army’s leadership training program as a model.

Establish local target charitable foundations to request grant funding

Develop strategic partnerships with similar minded groups, both profit and nonprofit, that can provide collaborative benefit and efforts such as the Harris County Aquatics Program, The Center for Success and Independence, Women’s Shelter of Houston, Texas Inmate Family Association, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
